Hungarian Outlaws, Betyárs

Based on 19th-century photographs of Hungarian outlaws by Lázár Letzter, these works explore the intersection of history and contemporary perception. I enlarge these prints, originally published by Letzter L. Fényképészete Szegeden, onto composite boards to serve as a foundation for my painting. Through this process, I establish a 'double vision': a new image that coexists with the historical document beneath. This layering reflects my interest in the multiplicity of awareness, where the past and present merge to challenge how we perceive a single moment in time.
